Polyethylene

Unlike polypropylene, polyethylene is made from the ethylene molecule instead of propylene. Ethylene production begins with the distillation of crude oil and natural gas, and ethylene is the most commonly produced petrochemical.

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer produced by the polymerization of ethylene. These granules are melted through extrusion, pressed through a spinneret, and formed into filaments. Polyethylene is available as monofilament or film, but not as multifilament.
