Coco and raffia
Coco and raffia fibers both come from palm trees and make us dream of beautiful beaches, delicious cocktails, and a sunny holiday.
Coconut fiber is extracted from the outer layer of a coconut and originates from India and Bangladesh. A ripe coconut produces dark brown fiber, while an unripe green fruit produces pale fiber. The coconut is mechanically cracked to release the fiber layer, and the nut is placed in running water to separate the fiber and husk. The byproducts are used for ground cover and improvement.
After a few steps in the processing, long and short fibers are separated and the fibers are cleaned, so that spinning can begin.
