Zele, November 9, 2022 – Corbeo is taking over all production activities of Vlechterij Bossuyt in Kortrijk. Corbeo is thus expanding its rope production with 32 braiding machines in one fell swoop. This step is fully in line with the company's strategy to increase local added value through vertical integration. All activities will be integrated into Corbeo's existing site in Zele.
For two generations, Vlechterij Bossuyt has specialized in the production of braided cord, ranging in thickness from 0.8mm to 12mm. With their modern machinery, consisting of German-made braiding machines, they deliver a very high-quality product. They specialize in, among other things, mason's cord, flagpole rope, long-length tensile cord (up to 1,000 m in a single piece), and braiding high-strength yarns such as Dyneema. Corbeo and Vlechterij Bossuyt have enjoyed close collaboration for many years. When current CEO Evelyne Bossuyt announced her intention to discontinue the business and had no successor, this acquisition seemed a logical step.
Corbeo is a manufacturer and wholesaler of rope and related products. They are the market leader in Belgium for all rope available in retail, including their 'Ledent' brand. For several years now, they have been working on a reshoring strategy, gradually expanding local production. "This acquisition fits perfectly into our multi-year plan to evolve from importer to full-fledged manufacturer," says CEO Wilfried Baeten. Vlechterij Bossuyt was already a key supplier to Corbeo, and with this step, we see opportunities to enhance the sustainability, quality, and continuity of our product range.
All machines will be relocated to the new building that Corbeo opened in Zele at the end of 2019. The acquired braiders' capacity allows for the annual production of 10,000 km of braided rope. In addition to retail products, Corbeo will continue to support Vlechterij Bossuyt's industrial customers and applications with existing products and the wide Corbeo product range.
